weddings

We are delighted that you are considering getting married at St Michael’s Church.

Holy Matrimony is one of life’s important occasions which marks the beginning of a couple's married life together. The marriage service marks a public witness to the love that two people have for one another.

Whether or not you are a regular churchgoer, getting married in church allows you to make solemn promises to the one you love, not only in the presence of your families and friends, but also in the sight of God and with God’s blessing.

Every year thousands of couples get married in their local church, or a church with which they have a particular connection.

It is worth noting that there are legal constraints for all couples who wish to marry at St Michael’s (or any other Church of England Parish Church). The Church of England calls this a 'qualifying connection'. Further information about qualifying connections can be found here, alternatively please contact the Curate who will be able to advise.

Weddings are usually booked at Clergy Surgery on a Saturday between 10am and 11am at St Mary’s Church, Welwyn.

Regrettably, we are not legally able to offer marriage in church for same-sex couples. It is possible to have prayers of thanksgiving following your Civil Marriage or Partnership. Please contact the Curate if you would like to discuss this further.
